2017 UCE results to be released today

KAMPALA - Results for candidates, who sat their Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations last year, are set to be released today.

This comes after a fortnight of waiting that has fuelled speculation on several social media platforms about the release of results.

State minister for higher education Dr. John Chrysostom Muyingo confirmed that the results will be released at 11:00am local time.

"We ask all parents and schools to be patient. But we have at least set a day for the release," he explained.

The release was also confirmed by the ministry's publicity office and the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).

The ministry's publicist, Patrick Muinda, added that the ceremony will be held in the Office of the President's auditorium.

The ministers, as is the procedure, were briefed about the findings of the marking and grading process of candidates Monday evening. "All the official paperwork is already done," Muinda explained.

About 326,149 Senior Four candidates sat for Uganda Certificate of Education examinations at 3,568 centres across the country.

At least 151,894 (46.6%) of the candidates are from public schools while 174,255 (53.4 %) are in private ones. This shows that UNEB registered 3,020 (about 0.9%) more candidates, up from 323,129 of 2016.

At least 1,072,740 candidates registered for the examinations at all three levels this year compared to last year's 1,068,352.

New Vision Editor John Kakande said this time round, "New Vision is set to offer you a deeper and comprehensive analysis of the results".

He said the package will seek to help the candidates and parents to take an informed decision on what to do in light of their performance in UCE examinations.

"We will also profile the best candidates as a way of recognising their performances," Kakande said.
