The Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) personnel in Ongongoja Sub County in Katakwi district have recovered and handed over three head of cattle to the owner.
The three cows were on Saturday abandoned by the suspected thief who was driving them to unknown destination.
John Bosco Okello, a police officer attached to Okuliak ASTU detaches confirms that the two boys from Adacar who were heading to Okuliak found the suspected thief driving animals but he took off as he was being approached by the duo.
"The cows were brought by two boys at around 1:00am,"said Okello.
Okello also says the suspected thief took off leaving the animals which were brought to Okuliak ASTU detach and were on Sunday handed over to LC1 Chairperson Acuru, Ameri.
The LC-1 Chairperson Adacar Village in Usuk sub county, John Olupot urged the government forces to step up efforts to address the theft of animals caused by the Karamojong cattle thieves.
