KAMPALA - Express Football Club chairperson Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi is optimistic that the top flight side will put up a stellar performance in the second round of the league.

 "We have lined up a good squad that we believe will perform well in the second round of the league," she said.

"The players are very motivated. On top of paying their arrears, we have also doubled their daily allowances," Nakiwala added.

She made the remarks while unveiling the club's new players at their offices in Mutundwe.

Jalilu Zimula, Isaac Kisujju, Shafik Kakeeto, Ayub Kisalita, Alfred Leku and Joseph Ssemujju have joined the club. Leku and Ssemujju are on loan from Vipers SC.

At the same press conference, players and coaches had their salaries for January cleared.

Dan Sserunkuma, who was the club's best player in the first round after scoring six goals, left and joined Vipers while youngster Abdul Karim Kasule crossed to Zambian side Buildcon FC.

The other players released are Deo Othieno, Salim Munubi, Isaac Katende, Rashid Nsubuga, John Kisakye, Jose Maria Lubega, Promise Mkepena, James Easther Ago and Steven Bengo.

Express struggled in the first round of the season. They breal found them only one place from the bottom with 11 points. UPDF FC sits at the bottom of the log.
