Shazad Kamal scored an unbeaten half-century as defending champions Challengers defeated Kutchi Tigers by five wickets in the final of the UCA National T20 Cup Sunday at Lugogo.

Kutchi had set 153/7 in their allotted overs, with Challengers' Irfan Afridi and Aneef Mohammed snatching three and two wickets respectively. Afridi would finish as the tournament's top wicket-taker while Mohammed was named player of series. Henry Senyondo added 2/19 in four overs.

The Tigers, who were led by Jaydev Parmar (39 runs) and Pankaj Vekaria (24), were always going to need a special bowling effort to prevent the Challengers from retaining the Cup. They wouldn't as Kamal's effort was assisted by Arthur Kyobe (39 runs), Mohammed (33) and Hamu Kayondo (21).

Saumil Patel finished with 2/37 in four overs.

"It's God," replied Thawithemwira when asked about the secret of success.

"I can't say there's anything special we've done. It's just God."
