Kabale Sharp FC has exited the Uganda Cup following a 2-1 defeat to Busula Sports Club at Kabale Municipal Stadium in Kabale district on Sunday.

Luweero-based club beat Kabale Sharp in a first ever appearance in the competition, shattering its hopes of making further progress in the cup.

The first half ended with neither side seeing the back of the other's goal, but with the Kabale side dominant in front of an effervescent crowd.

Musa Kahinzi struck in the 52nd minute to give the visitors the lead, but the joy was shortlived as Davis Muhirwe levelled matters two minutes later.

From then on, Busula pressed for another goal, and it did come 13 minutes before time courtesy of a Benjamin Ssemango strike.

The home side's Cliff Rukanga was apologetic to the fans after the game for "letting you down", but asked them to continue support them as the club continues to tussle it out in other leagues.

"We are trying as hard as we can to make Sharp FC victorious and we have so far exhibited an improved performance despite today's loss," he said.
