Kisoro church constructs school for vulnerable children

KISORO - Thirty six vulnerable children in Rubuguri town council, Kisoro district, have a reason to smile following the commissioning of a school that will offer free primary education.

The Hope Missionary Primary School was constructed by Hope for Uganda Ministries, a church-based, non-governmental organisation attached to Lift up Church.

While commissioning the school recently, Emmanuel Mwumvaneza, the Kisoro district inspector of schools, urged the school management to co-operate with the district education authorities and to ensure the teaching according to the existing national curriculum.

Mwumvaneza asked the developer to consider establishing a technical school in the area so as to fight unemployment.

"We see a lot of schools starting up in Uganda, but we prefer that those starting them work according to the expectations of the education ministry," he said.

Manasseh Rukundo, the Kisoro district deputy chief administrative officer, hailed the school founders for considering the area in availing education opportunities.

"The Government cannot reach everywhere in availing services to its people, but when such initiatives come on board, we welcome them because they are another source of hope for our people," Rukundo said.

Elias Niwagaba, the Kisoro deputy resident district commissioner, asked local authorities to welcome more development partners so as to realise better standards of living.
