Musician Radio is 'stable', hospital says

KAMPALA - Ugandan musician Moses Ssekibogo, best known as Mowzey Radio of the Goodlyfe Crew, is "out of danger" and "stable" an official of Case Hospital, where he is admitted, told New Vision Wednesday morning.

"The patient (Radio) is in our Intensive Care Unit. His condition is stable, but under critical observation. He is out of danger this morning," Abel Kidde, the hospital's operations manager, said.

But he was keen not to divulge details.

"The (Radio's) relatives are sensitive to privacy and it is our value as a hospital to protect our patient's privacy.

"We do not want to allow people to access him without his consent or his relatives'," Kidde added.

On Tuesday, one of Radio's friends, who preferred anonymity, said the family had stopped doctors from revealing the status of their patient, but that his condition was worrying.

A statement released later by the musician's management team on his official Facebook page said Radio had been "involved in an accident" the night before and was out of coma following medical attention at Case Hospital in Kampala.

It message said he was receiving the "best treatment" at the health facility.

Radio, who sings alongside Douglas Mayanja, aka Weasel, was reportedly beaten severely by revellers at Club Bar in Entebbe Monday night.

A fight broke out at the bar, involving Radio and the managers of the bar, according to Police spokesperson Emilian Kayima.

That was around 9:30pm.

"During the scuffle, Radio was hit and fell to the ground. He suffered severe injuries to his head and he was rushed to hospital," Kayima explained.

One of the owners of the bar, a one George, was arrested by Police.

"Although the real culprit took off, this suspect in our custody is helping us to find him," the Police spokesperson added.

Several people, including fellow musicians, have posted get-well-soon messages.

"Let us continue praying for him to get well soon," tweeted Kyadondo East MP Robert Ssentamu, best known by his stage name Bobi Wine.
