BUNDIBUGYO -"In this 2017/18 financial year, one of the key areas that was prioritised, was the renovation of Bundibugyo Hospital," said Franco Olaboro, the district chief administrative officer (CAO).

Speaking to New Vision Tuesday, Olaboro said the three-month project would cost sh300M.

Olaboro said the renovation of the maternity ward and theatre was awarded to Secco Construction Company.

He said the project will see the maternity ward and theatre get electricity, a new plumbing system and  re-painting.

"We are going to re-paint the ceiling and the walls and replace plumbing system," Olaboro said.

He told New Vision that patients were shifted to a temporary ward that was constructed within the hospital compound.

Amon Bwambale, the medical superintendent at the hospital, on behalf of the management appreciated the support from the Government.

"However we should continue to engage the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to attract more funding to renovate the whole hospital," Bwambale said.

Bundibugyo General Hospital was commissioned in 1968 by under the Obote 1 regime.
