3 murdered in Mubende and Kyankwanzi districts

The Police in Wamala region are investigating three murder cases that happened on Christmas and Boxing Day.

The Wamala police region covers, Mubende, Mityana, Kiboga and Kyankwanzi districts.

Ochom told New Vision on Thursday that, Benard Nuwaheza, 43, a resident of Kyakadali village in Kitenga sub-county, was in police detention at Mubende central police station on allegations of murdering his 35 year-old wife identified Donateze Hawina.

Nuwaheza reportedly handed himself over to Budibaga police post on Christmas afternoon, confessing to the murder of his wife in a domestic squabble.

Nahaweza, a reported watchman at Lugula health center in Mityana district, allegedly returned home for Christmas holiday on Dec, 20, before a misunderstanding over a cause, Ochom, couldn't reveal erupted to the bloodshed fate.  

Without divulging further details on the matter, Ochom, said, Nuwaheza has been slapped with murder charges pending being arraigned in court.

At Kiterede cell in Katanabirwa ward, Butemba town council in Kyankwanzi district, the police mouth piece, disclosed that at Mid-night into Boxing Day, Ndema Zachariah, and aged 75 years and his wife Solonite Abakao, aged 52, entered their bed well and slept.

He added that on the Boxing Day early morning, the residents discovered the two dead outside their home.

Ochom said Ndema's body was discovered hanged on the tree using a rope, while Abakao's body was discovered on the ground with a cut on the fore head.

He said unidentified people could have killed the couple and hanged the man on the tree to confuse the investigation course.

Ochom maintained that investigations were ongoing to establish the exact cause of the couple's death.

According to Ochom, mid-this month, two bodies of an old man and a boy were discovered dumped in Gayaza sub-county in Kyankwanzi district. He said the bodies which have since been buried in a public cemetery at in Kiboga town council, remain unclaimed.

Ochom maintained that there was general decline in murder charges across the region.

However he reported that the region had calm Christmas festivals with isolated cases of assault, no fires, no accidents, and no robberies among others.

Ochom said this contrasted last year where a quite number of crime cases prevailed during Christmas across the region though without availing specific data.

He appealed for peaceful New Year celebrations, maintaining that any actions that breached the law won't be tolerated.
