Kibaale NRM youth chairperson remanded over fuel theft

Prosecution told court that the accused used a premio vehicle registration UAX 931B to ferry the stolen fuel to his home

Kagadi Grade One Magistrates Court on Wednesday remanded Kibaale district NRM youth league Chairperson to Mambugu Prison on charges of fuel theft.

Court presided over by Simon Toloko heard that Obed Ambikiize, last week connived with the staff of Shengli Construction Company and stole nine Jerry cans of diesel meant to be used in the tarmacking of Kabwoya, Kagadi Kyenjojo.

Prosecution told court that the accused used a premio vehicle registration UAX 931B to ferry the stolen fuel to his home.

The accused was denied bail and was remanded until Jan, 4, 2018 when his case will come up for mention.

Two weeks ago seven staff members of Shengli Construction Company were arrested and bonded after being implicated in fuel siphoning.

Romeo Ojara, the Kagadi district Police commander said the suspects were conniving with business people in pacwa sub-county Kagadi district to sell Jerrycans of fuel at a cheaper price.

He said Shengli staff is still under investigation over alleged fuel siphoning. Shengli Construction Company was contracted by government to tarmac Kabwoya-Kagadi Kyenjojo Road.
