Mourners found the child playing football in the compound.

CRAZY CRAZY

Faking death is a person's private business, unless it affects others. Take Issa Budugo, for instance.

The taxi driver along the Bugiri-Busia highway lied to his relatives that he had lost his son and that the burial would be over the weekend.

Relatives and friends quickly mobilised sh589,000 condolence money and handed it over to him.

One of his sisters bought 80kg of posho, 30kg of beans and 25kg of rice for the funeral. But when mourners mobilised transport to Budugo's home in Kirongero for
burial, they found the three-year-old boy alive and playing football with his colleagues in the compound.

The angry relatives mounted a search for Budugo and found him drinking beer in the company of a brown woman at East Ends Bar in Naluwerere trading centre.

They reported the matter to Police at Bugiri Central Police Station and Budugo was arrested.

Later, they sentenced him to 50 strokes of the cane for acquiring money by false pretence.
