UPDF to take charge of crowd control on Boxing Day

Clerk of the course Shafik Matovu said the track distance has increased from the usual 1.2km to 1.7kms, giving fans more viewing space.



UPDF will take charge of the crowd control for safety purposes during the Champions Sprint rally on Boxing Day at Festino Cite Mukono.

The event manager, Kees Kagolo, disclosed during the launch of the event that closes the FMU calendar at Festino Cite Mukono.

Kagolo said that on that day, they expect many fans and that some are not aware of the dangers of motorsport which calls for the army to support police.

"We have asked UPDF for help on safety. They will be in charge of crowd control and we pray that fans cooperate because in motorsport, safety is paramount," Kagolo said.

The event co-sponsored by Shell V-Power, Tip-TOP Bread, Superstar Soap, Afia drink, Fire and safety Appliance, KR Ssebuguzi Garage, Lato Milk and DRUM.

The Champions Sprint is the last event on the FMU calendar and Ronald Ssebuguzi, Christakis Fitidis, Arthur Blick Jr., Unisan Bakunda, Omar Mayanja and Hassan Alwi who top contenders on the Sprint Championship title have confirmed their participation.
