The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, has asked Ugandans to be vigilant regarding projects intended to improve their lives. She said some officials cheat the beneficiaries.

Kadaga cited the Youth Livelihood proggramme. She said some youth are cheated and given less money than they are supposed to get, so they fail to make good use of it.

"Do not allow to be cheated. Make sure you get the exact amount that you have signed for. If you get less, how will you pay back?" she said.

She was addressing youth at Malangala sub-county in Mityana district on Friday, where she was the guest of honour at the district youth day celebrations. Kadaga  launched the Mityana Youth Development Association.

"If animals are being supplied, the vet must be around to confirm that they are good. Seedlings must be of the best quality. Just raise an alarm, and we shall respond," she added.

The speakers' message followed complaints from some local leaders who said that sometimes poor quality items are supplied and youth are given less money, compared to what they sign for.

The Mityana woman Member of Parliament Judith Nabakooba commended the government for the services extended to Mityana and appealed that more funds be allocated in the various proggrammes.

Mityana LCV Chairperson, Joseph Luzigge expressed concern over the little funds at the district level and appealed that lower local governments be given more money.
