Uganda Cranes v Burundi - Kakamega

Uganda Cranes coach Moses Basena is optimistic that Cranes has what it takes to defend the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.

Cranes open their campaign with Burundi today at the Bukhungu stadium in Kakamega, Kenya.

"Everything is moving on as planned. My only worry is for some of the youngsters on the team who may get stage freight. We are ready for the successful CECAFA defence," Basena noted.

The two-week event that kicked off  on Sunday will climax on December 17.

Uganda are the current Senior Challenge champions having won the trophy for a record 14th time in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in 2015.

Last year the tournament was not held after Kenya pulled out from hosting the event.

Apart from hosts Kenya, Libya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Zanzibar, Rwanda, Burundi and Uganda are the other participating nations.
