Gospel artistes form association

According to legendary singer, Sseku Martin, the union; set to be called the Ugandan Gospel Artistes Association (UGAA), will majorly serve the purpose of bringing together all gospel artistes around the nation considering that those living outside Kampala have in most cases been left out.

According to legendary singer, Sseku Martin, the union; set to be called the Ugandan Gospel Artistes Association (UGAA), will majorly serve the purpose of bringing together all gospel artistes around the nation considering that those living outside Kampala have in most cases been left out.

In a bid to streamline their working environment and improve reach of their music, Ugandan gospel musicians on Saturday met at Mabirizi Complex to establish a foundation for the formation of an association that will give them a united voice.


According to legendary singer, Sseku Martin, the union; set to be called the Ugandan Gospel Artistes Association (UGAA), will majorly serve the purpose of bringing together all gospel artistes around the nation considering that those living outside Kampala have in most cases been left out.


"Among the key issues discussed were unity and working together towards developing the gospel music industry as a whole in Uganda, to have a place where gospel artistes can meet and showcase their talent," he explains.

According to some of the resolutions of the meeting, gospel artistes will every Thursday evening continue to meet at the Amazing Grace gardens near Bible House on Bombo road. This weekly event is called the Gospel Heartbeat.


"A joint account to run the association programs, an annual convention bringing together all gospel artistes from all regions of Uganda, copyright and welfare of artistes, prayer meetings and monthly fellowships beginning with January 2018 were also among the issues discussed," Sseku adds.

This association also has a plan to reach out to Pastors in Uganda to work with them in building the Kingdom of God and also help reach out to the youth as regards moral support and nation building across the country. Other issues also discussed include health of gospel artistes, packaging, promotion and distribution of music in and outside Uganda.


Some of the key personalities present at the meeting that attracted about 200 artistes were Sseku Martin, Exodus, King Wesley, Bishop Isaiah Mbuga, Holy Ken Amooti and Coopy Bly.
