Toro kingdom mourns former minister

Kaijabwango succumbed to cancer on Friday evening at Virika Hospital in Fort Portal municipality, Kabarole

Chris Kaijabwango, the former security minister for Toro kingdom has passed on.

Kaijabwango succumbed to cancer on Friday evening at Virika Hospital in Fort Portal municipality, Kabarole.

Kaijabwango had been bedridden since March according to Silvia Kaijabwango, daughter to the deceased.

"He developed a cancerous tumor in March this year. Despite being operated on, he remained unwell" she said.

Kaijabwango was the kingdom's security minister, a position he occupied from 1997 to 2017.

Silvia has described his late father as a hardworking, loyal and honest man who was committed so to his family.

"He had tough love for his family and the people that he cared about," she said.

A veterinary doctor by profession, the late Kaijabwango served in Hoima, Kabarole and Kampala districts during his youthful days.

He later quit the profession and became a businessman.

Patrick Muganzi who succeeded Kaijabwango as security minister said the kingdom will always miss his (Kaijabwango) good counsel, wise decision and gospel of unity.

Kaijabwango was the only child of born to the late Onesmus Musozi and Estire Byakyaro.

He is survived by a widow Jane Kaijabwango and six children.
