Are vocational institutes a new gold mine?

There are still strong negative social perceptions and stigma about vocational education and training in Uganda

John Mugume passed his senior Six national examinations and had an opportunity to join a tertiary technical or vocational institution, had he not ignored the move. He could have even won a Government scholarship for a diploma course in such institutes.

However, he ignored this option and stack on being admitted in either Makerere or Kyambogo University.  He wanted to do mechanical engineering, and he missed out being admitted in both universities. He had to wait for the following academic year, to join the university.
