Police 1 Kirinya Jinja SS 0

Police FC beat Kirinya Jinja SS 1-0 to move to the top of the Azam Uganda Premier League standings.

Defender Livingstone Mulondo deflected Police midfielder Jude Ocen's cross into his own net in the first half to give his side maximum points against a resilient side, which is coming off a 2-1 win over Proline in Jinja.

The win, their fourth of the season, pushes Police to the top with 13 points from 7 games while Kirinya who were third going into today's game are now fourth on 11 points, just like Vipers who are third because of a better goal difference but with the same points.

A win for Charles Ayiekho's side could have seen them top the standings but the in-form team prevailed.

Police, who were coming off a 2-1 loss to Mbarara City, now share the same points with second-placed Onduparaka but with a better goal difference.

Kirinya pressed hard for an equalizer in the second half but their top striker Musa Esenu was neutralised by Police defenders; Martin Mpuuga, Stephen Mugisha and Paul Willa, though he looked isolated most of the time.

His only open chance came in the first half but he failed to beat Police goalkeeper Davis Mutebi in a one-on-one situation.
