FDC petitions Kadaga over Police brutality

Oct 23, 2017

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), has asked Kadaga to come out to condemn the acts of Police in dispersing Opposition consultative meetings

Even after the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga permitted Members of Parliament to carry out consultations on the amendment of Article 102(b) on the presidential age limit, Police has been blocking some of the rallies, claiming they are illegal.

This has mostly been witnessed where there are joint rallies by Opposition MPs against the amendment.

However, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), has asked Kadaga to come out over the matter, since consultations are being conducted under her instructions.

While addressing the media at the party's weekly press briefing, the party's deputy spokesperson, Paul Mwiru said Kadaga needs to come out to condemn the acts of Police in dispersing Opposition consultative meetings.

"Police should do their work of keeping law and order at the rallies. They should stop their acts of impunity," he added.

FDC  has also demanded for the release Col. Dr Kizza Besigye and other FDC members who were arrested by Police in Kabale.
