Bobi Wine said he majorly earns from his music and so Police has no right to stop him from doing his Job

Kyadondo East MP and musician Bobi Wine has lashed out at Police for banning him from holding music shows saying that they are infringing on his right to do business.

Bobi Wine said he majorly earns from his music and so Police has no right to stop him from doing his Job.

He said that he is going to use all legal means to fight what he called an illegal ban.

"The same songs they are banning me from performing, I have always sung them at Police functions whenever they invited me, why are they turning out to be illegal this time?" Bobi Wine asked.

Responding to a request by music show promoter, Juma Balunywa of Balunywa Promotions Ltd, Kampala Metropolitan Police chief, Frank Mwesigwa declined to grant permission for a Bobi Wine show at Colline Hotel in Mukono, saying Bobi Wine is under investigations over statements he uttered at a previous concert.

However, Bobi Wine said Police cannot claim he uses his music to communicate what police calls politics, saying that both Bobi Wine the musician and Kyagulanyi the MP have their right to express themselves.

"I think Police should help me to differentiate the two, but I believe I am Bobi Wine and I am also MP Robert Kyagulanyi. Even if they stop me from singing, there are very many other avenues I can use to communicate to my fans," he said.

Promoter goes to court

Meanwhile the promoter who had hired Bobi Wine, Juma Balunywa to perform in Mukono has already filed a court case against Mwesigwa over the ban.

He said by now Police would have already issued a clear and official statement warning all promoters to stop dealing with Bobi Wine, but since they have not, they believe he is still a musician whom they can do business with.

"I am bound to make a loss of more than sh50m if by Saturday the Police order is not overturned," he said.
