Ortega optimistic he'll raise sh128m for new race car

Rally driver Ismael Ortega is optimistic that Tuli Majje Sprint in Festino Cite Mukono on Sunday will help raise a big percentage of the sh128m needed to buy a Subaru N14 he intends to use in next year's National Rally Champion (NRC).

Ortega the three time 2WD national champion requested FMU for the fundraising sprint for the past three years and it finally granted it this year.

"I want to thank all the drivers who have supported me by buying tickets in advance and trophies and I'm convinced we shall be able to raise the balance needed for the car," Ortega stated at the launch of the event in Kololo on Tuesday afternoon.

Meanwhile over 43 drivers have confirmed participation in Sunday's Sprint at Festino Mukono where all proceeds will go to buying a stronger car for Ortega.

The event will be organized by his club MOSAC and drivers where Musa Kabega has bought all the trophies and 20 tickets, while Hassan Alwi has bought 50 tickets, Abdul Kateete 30, Musa Mulimira 20 with Andrew Wasswa, Eddie Mukiibi, Musa Kizito and Edwin Kalule buying 10 tickets each.

Each ticket goes for sh10,000
