HOMES AND CONSTRUCTION

The first thing you notice when you enter the living room is the sofa.

Sofas embellish the living room and signify a cordial reception in a home.

Some sofas come with fixed cushions and others have their cushions movable.

Since they are comfortable, all family members retire on them after a long day.

During the process, a lot of litter slips into the gaps of the sofa.

If the cushions are fixed the litter remains in the gaps. If they are movable, the litter goes down to the base — when you flip the cushions you find it gleaned there. Below are tips on how to remove litter from sofas.

Fixed cushions

Get a slightly damp wiping cloth.

Carefully insert your fingers as far as you can in the sofa gaps.

Thrust the litter out of the gaps.

Repeat the process until you feel the sofa is clean.

Pick up the litter from the floor and clean the area.

Shift the sofa and clean where it seats.

Some people complain of sofas staining after being washed even with some professional cleaners.

Below are some simple steps that can help you attain a clean sofa without staining.

Requirements

A nylon scouring pad

Washing powder

A piece of sponge (absorbent material)

Clean water

Procedure

Put some water in a clean basin or bucket.

Add some washing powder and mix until it forms froth.

Get your nylon scouring pad and scoop the froth.

Starting from the backrest, scrub the sofa using small circular movements. Soak the piece of sponge in clean water and squeeze out the dripping water.

As soon as you finish scrubbing a little portion of the sofa with the froth.

Get the piece of sponge and rinse off the dirty froth using similar circular movements.

Wash the sponge and squeeze out the dripping water. Wipe again that particular area until it gets clean.

Repeat the procedure on the entire sofa.

Use only the froth not water. If the water gets dirty, pour it. Wash the bucket and put in clean water. Add some washing powder and mix till it forms froth.

Continue with your cleaning.

The sponge works incredibly in sucking out the dirty froth and making the sofa cleaner each time you wash it (sponge) and wipe.

Put the sofa out in the sun to dry. If there is no sunshine, do not worry, it can dry in the house without staining.
