Catholic centenary choir launches 40th anniversary celebrations

The Chairman of the Choir, Linus Bukenya, thanked the Christians for supporting the choir morally and financially during the last 40 years.

The Catholic centenary memorial choir (Cacemcho) has started celebrations to mark its 40th anniversary. The function took place at Rubaga Cathedral on Sunday.

Delivering his speech during the function, the administrator of Rubaga Cathedral, Fr Joseph Mary Bbuye commended the choristers of Cacemcho for maintaining the high standards that the choir established at its inception.

The Chairman of the Choir, Linus Bukenya, thanked the Christians for supporting the choir morally and financially during the last 40 years. He appealed to the Christians to make financial contributions towards the purchase of the choir souvenir uniform, which he said will cost about sh15m (fifteen million).

Engineer Jjuuko, who represented the chief guest, donated sh500,000 to the choir. Several other Christians also donated cash to the choir.

The Catholic centenary memorial choir was established in 1979, to commemorate the centenary of the Catholic faith in Uganda. Its members were originally drawn from all the Catholic diocese of Uganda.
