EDUCATION | CHARITY RUN

In an effort to bring early childhood education closer to the people of West Nile and Karamoja region, the Centre for Social Research (CSR) is to construct four centres in these regions, to assist children at an early age.


The centres, according to the director of Centre for Social Research, Wilson Assimwe, will assist children acquire education in the early stages of their lives.

He said CSR is organiSing an annual education run in which funds will be raised to construct the centres meant to promote education for the less privileged children in the region.

During a press conference at the Sideline Restaurant in Lugogo over the weekend, he said children who are taken through early childhood education benefit a lot from it.

Asiimwe explained that the intended annual run funds will focus on long life learning and vocational education, among others.

He said CSR is organising a run to mobilise funds on October 22 at Kololo Independence grounds.

Ken Yawe, programmes co-ordinator, said their organisation is out to bridge the gap in education by providing the necessary kits in schools and also to help children to be creative at an early age.

The runs include 5km and 10km races, which will go for sh10,000 and sh20,000, respectively.

The chief runner for this race is the State Minister for Higher education John C. Muyingo.
