Preparations for this year's Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup that will be hosted in Kenya are in full gear.

Reports from Kenya state that  Bukhungu stadium has been identified as one of the possible venues to host the annual  event.

The same facility was also toured by Football Kenya Federation president Nick Mwendwa and Cecafa Secretary General, Nicholas Musonye to see whether it meets the required standards.

Despite losing the rights of hosting the 2018 Africa Nations Championship (Chan), Kenya  was endorsed to host this year's Cecafa slated for November 26 - December 9.

Kenya's endorsement to hold the annual football contest  was confirmed after Cecafa's executive committee meeting in Khartoum recently .

It is reported that Kenya won the bid to host the Senior Challenge after members from CECAFA executive expressed solidarity to them after losing the CHAN rights.

They won the rights on condition that the political climate will be favorable. But a standby host nation will be considered if they is instability in the country.

Uganda are the current Senior Challenge champions having won the trophy for a record 14th time in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia  in 2015.
Last year the tournament was not held after Kenya pulled out from hosting the event.
