Police has preferred charges of assault and abstraction of a Police officer on duty against singer Spice Diana aka Hajara Namukwaya.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Emillian Kayima, Spice Diana and her manager assaulted a Police officer on duty after they were refused access to the City carnival.

"The singer refused to comply with rules of security; she and her manager Lubega resisted the Police check and wanted to force their way into the venue," he said.

Kayima said Spice Diana fought the Police and was later arrested at the Nkrumah Police post.

"We released her on Police bond. The file is ready for prosecution," he said.

Spice Diana is currently nursing wounds in hospital after being beaten at the Kampala Capital City Carnival, allegedly by Police.

"After my first performance at the carnival, I was beaten badly and disrespected by ruthless Police officers and I am nursing wounds," the singer wrote on her social media accounts. She also shared her pictures on a sick bed.

Although the cause is not yet clear, the Onsanula hit maker said: "We give you power to protect us and keep law and order, but you are the same people that go against the law. Why should we be treated like strangers in our own country?"
