Pearl of Africa Fashion Awards to recognize upcountry designers

Pearl of Africa Fashion Awards (PAFA) is set to recognize little known fashion designers from all over the country.

There are 72 categories that include best fashion designer, best fashionista and best stylist for East, West, North and South.

The main categories will have nominees from best dressed politician of the year, best use of social media, best graphics designer and best fashion blogger, among others.

Roger Mugisha, a celebrated radio personality and emcee, says the awards are focusing on Ugandan fashion, other than the imported glamorous styles.

Pearl of Africa Fashion Awards publicist Debby Kagisha said the event will encourage new entrants to the fashion industry, but also seeks to provide a platform for young, unemployed youth to get jobs in the industry.

According to Kagisha the cash and other prizes will be unveiled at the nomination gala, slated for November 2 at Sky beach freedom city in Namasuba, Kampala.
