You must ensure it is put out in the sun to dry, she says. Musana adds that it is advisable to have several rags, so you can alternate them.

She says the kitchen rag or mop is on ‘duty ‘almost fulltime, but critical moments are after meals or when mopping involves clearing food particles that may have dropped on the floor.

Musana explains that food particles must be disposed of in a dustbin and the rag washed with soap and water.

She warns that damp or dirty mops produce bacteria.
