Biometric security devices measure unique characteristics of a person, such as the voice, fingerprints, iris or retina pattern. This makes it difficult for an intruder to break into a house.
Investors in the real estate sector are now advocating for the installation of biometric security systems in all properties.
These properties include apartments and villas. The system has security devices that measure unique characteristics of a person, such as the voice, fingerprints, iris or retina pattern.
This makes it hard for an intruder to break into the property, according to Praga Koticha, the proprietor of Venetian Villas, located in Naguru, Kampala.
Why use biometric locks?
Koticha says when using the biometric system, one does not need to move around with keys, which might be bulky, especially if you are going to lock up all the rooms of the home. One has to also bear in mind that keys can be stolen and copied.
"To access their villas, people do not need to carry keys all the time. They rather keep the codes in their mind, just like a phone or email password. Codes are used to get into the house," Koticha explains.
With the biometric security system, accompanied with cameras and digital screens, people can control those who can access the house at a particular time, he adds.
Koticha says tenants of the villas are given access codes with passwords of their choice, with a biometric programming and key, in addition. The information is also secured with a backup system, for future references.
