Collins Nuwagira playing off handicap 17 returned 67nett to win the Entebbe Club Castle Lite September Mug of Mugs tournament played on Saturday.
It was a first for him and several others in the quarterly competition that attracted 103 players.
"My opponents did not contest my leadership and made it easy for me and I played with good company who gave me good company," Nuwagira said.
Tony Kisadha, Peter Apell and Tony Katamba also bagged their first mugs in the men's Groups A-C where Denis Onyango, Bernard Bakamuntumaho and Kenneth Kiddu were runners up.
Michael Tumusiime, Jude Ochieng and Robert Ssempebwa finished third in the three groups respectively while Maureen Okura and Rita Akoll were the top lady performers on the day.
The six Entebbe Club professional golfers also used the event as a warm up for the Uganda Open due on Wednesday. Robert Oluba and Henry Lujja tied on 75 gross each ahead of the open that starts on Wednesday at Kitante.
Uganda Open amateur champion Ronald Rugumayo was part of the action and returned a two-over-par-73 and had some wise counsel to the rest of the golfers at the 19th hole, urging them to train hard for better results.
"In every sport I know one thing; the harder you train the easier it gets to surrender," Rugumayo stated before revellers were entertained to live performances by Cindy Sanyu and the Talented Uganda Krew band.
In Kampala Ashavin Kananathan's 69nett propelled him to the top the September Mug beating Na Miae on count-back.
