Police led by the Inspector General, Kale Kayihura, on Friday evening arrested three men over the abduction of a yet to be identified woman. Police spokesperson Asan Kasingye had earlier issued a statement about "two dangerous men" who allegedly kidnapped the woman on Entebbe Road.

"We have received credible information that two men, one dressed in black and another man wearing a red shirt and black jacket are travelling in a numberless black ipsum vehicle.

"They attempted to kidnap a young lady at around Abayita Ababiri in Katabi town council. The vehicle had another lady whose face was covered with a piece of cloth. She was wearing a short, black skirt," Kasingye said in a statement earlier.

A few hours after the Police statement, Gen. Kale Kayihura went to areas of Kabaale A, Katabi town council where the kidnap was said to have occurred. While the IGP was moving from house to house, three men were seen handcuffed.

Gen. Kayihura was heard scolding the area in-charge officer Gilbert Besigye and the RPC Siraj Bakaleke for not deploying Police officers at the scene of the kidnap. He later held a meeting with residents, which (meeting) went till dusk

During an interview, Gen. Kayihura refused to give details of the arrested men saying it would jeopardise the ongoing investigation.

"These men and their vehicle suit the description of those who kidnapped the young lady and like you could have seen, their rear number-plate is covered," said the IGP.

All the three suspects were arrested along Kasenyi road with their black Toyota tourer car; UAG 133A, which was different from the Ipsum as stated earlier by Kasingye. Their dressing code prior to their arrest was also different from that described earlier in a Police statement.

They were all detained as investigations into the matter continue.

One of the suspects was later identified as Moses Myambala, known to be a trader mainly dealing in fishing business.
