POLITICS | KYOTERA POLLS

President Yoweri Museveni has said the newly-created Kyotera district is among the back bone areas of the NRM government.

In his message delivered by security minister Gen. Henry Tumukunde, President Museveni said Kyotera and Rakai district were strong bases that enabled the National Resistance Army (NRA) fighters to accomplish the mission to oust the then government.

"I very well remember this area. We camped here as our base and Kyotera and Rakai is among the back bone areas, especially in 1986 where we based to oust the then Obote regime, I expect outright victory for the NRM party on polling day," he said.

Tumukunde campaigned for the National Resistence Movement (NRM) party flagbearers, Kintu Kisekulo (LC5 chairman) and Rachael Nakitende (district woman MP) on Tuesday, on behalf of Museveni.

Tumukunde said President Museveni was not able to attend the final rally because of his UN engagement in New York.

"President Museveni will come and visit you soon after the election and he has asked you to vote for the NRM party flag bearers," he said.

Responding to the lack of electricity in Kirumba areas, Tumukunde apologised for the delay in extending power.

He said the programme to extend electricity to Kirumba and other needy areas in Kyotera and Rakai district had already started.

He said the roads and water accessibility will reach all parts of
Kyotera without fail. He said it's the reason, the NRM government granted Kyotera a district status: to bring the services nearer to the grassroot residents.
