On Tuesday evening, the bodies of 12 Tanzanian nationals who died in a road accident were flown home for burial.

Several ministers including Deputy Minister of Industry, Trade and Marketing, Gregory Teu were on hand to receive the remains at Dar es Salaam Airport including Uganda's ambassador to Tanzania Richard Kabonero.

According to Kabonero, the Ugandan government repatriated the remains aboard a chartered Kenya Airways Cargo flight.

The Tanzanian nationals were killed on Sunday in the accident that occurred when a Kampala bound lorry reg. no. UAH 970P rammed into a minibus reg. no. T540 DLC at Katonga, Mpigi district along Kampala-Masaka Road.

The minibus was carrying the entourage returning home from attending a wedding ceremony of Prof. Charles Ibingira's son in Kampala who wedded a Tanzanian national.

Survivors from the accident reported that the truck which developed mechanical problems rammed into their vehicle killing several.
