Too close to call as the Uganda Golf Open ends

Rugumayo who was seven strokes away from the top ten and opened with a disappointing 80 gross is now among the top contenders for this year’s championship that ends on Saturday.
Ronald Rugumayo shot a third round three-under par-69 to take the lead after the third round of the Tusker Malt Lager Uganda Golf Open at Kitante on Friday.
Rugumayo who was seven strokes away from the top ten and opened with a disappointing 80 gross is now among the top contenders for this year's championship that ends on Saturday.
"This open is tricky and I think someone behind might just win it. I should have aimed for par yesterday (day-two) but got excited and wanted to attack but it is good to be here now. It is time to go for it," Rugumayo said.
With much attention on defending champion Ronald Otile and day-two leader Richard Baguma, the chasing pack raised their game to close in on the leaders, who had a not so good day at the office.
The two played some good golf on the day but missed easy puts along the way, as the likes of Kenya's Sam Njoroge and Uganda's Rodwell Gaita found their rhythm retuning one under and one over respectively, to put themselves on course of winning their first Uganda Open.
It is that tight at the top as five golfers are tied in first place, three in 8th place with a gross of 227 and 228 after the three rounds. Rwanda's Alloys Nsabimana who is playing his third Uganda Open and Entebbe Club's Abraham Ainamani are ninth and tenth respectively and waiting for any slip ups. Otile said it was tricky but said there is no way out other than attacking the pins on Saturday.
