Kenyan driver killed in Kiboga fuel tanker fire

A fuel tanker on Wednesday caught fire along Hoima-Kampala Highway in Kapeke Sub County in Kiboga district leaving one dead and another critically injured.

According to eyewitnesses at Kagobe where the accident happened, the driver of the Kenyan registered trailer lost control before the tanker overturned and caught fire.

The driver, Rajabu Wanyonyi aged 50, was trapped in his seat when the fire started and died as a result.

The two other occupants who couldn't be identified by press time escaped; with critically injured and was rushed to Kiboga Hospital.

The officer in charge of Kiboga Central Police Station, Timothy Ndawula, who led Police to the scene said the accident affected traffic flow along the road and it had to be cordoned off and traffic diverted.

He was not committal when tasked to explain the cause of the accident.
