Express coach Lule quits over pay dispute

Matia Lule has stepped down as the coach of Express Football Club after going several months without pay.

"I decided to step down since I can't continue working in such conditions. I can only return if the club management has worked on the current situation of the team. I have informed them about this and they have not replied me. We have gone four months without pay. This includes coaching staff and the players," stated Lule.

Lule also blamed the club for not contracting his fellow coaching staff who include; Pius Ngabo, Joseph Kiwanuka and goalkeeping coach Sam Kawalya. In fact Kawanuka who was first assistant to Lule resigned from the club last month.

Lule's departure follows that of players Simon Sserunkuma, Allan Kyambadde, Mahad Kakooza and Musa Mukasa who signed for SC Villa while Yayo Lutimba moved to Vipers.

Lule decision to step down comes after last month's standoff where the team was stopped from training at Wankulukuku Stadium by the club's management although they were later allowed to use the facility.
