Silverbacks to play Egypt in friendly match

Before they travel to Dakar, Senegal for the FIBA AfroBasket Championship group games,the Uganda men's basketball team, Silverbacks will play an international friendly against Egypt as part of their warm-up on Tuesday.

The team traveled on August, 23, for a two weeks training camp in Alexandria, Egypt before they proceed to Dakar. This will be Uganda's second appearance at the continental contest.

Angola, Morocco and Central African Republic are Uganda's opponents in the group stages.

Uganda has never played Morocco and Angola but lost to C.A.R in their first AfroBasket appearance in 2015.

However, with four foreign based players and the recruitment of a new coach, George Galanapolous, chances are high that Uganda will do well in the 11-day contest.

The Silverbacks will have to pick at least two wins if they are to qualify for the later stages of the contest in Tunisia's capital, Tunis.

Steven Omony, Joseph Ikong, Jimmy Enabu, Ben Komakech, James Okello, Jonathan Egau ,Cyrus Kiviri, Jonah Otim make up the eight man squad expected to represent the country.

Stanley Ociiti, A'darius Pegues, Robinson Odoch Opong and Samuel Kalwanyi are the foreign based player .​
