Basena focusing on fitness ahead of Egypt encounter

Uganda is placed in Group E with Egypt, Ghana and Congo Brazzaville

Uganda Cranes resumed training on Tuesday ahead of the double header against Egypt in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Cranes host the first leg on August 31st   at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole before traveling for the return leg on September 5th at Arab El Borg Stadium in Alexanderia.

Over 20 players under the guidance of interim coaches Moses Basena and Fred Kajoba were part of the session.

"Our main focus now is on players' physical fitness due to the respective league breaks," stated Basena. Foreign-based players are expected to join the rest before the end of the week.

Uganda is placed in Group E with Egypt, Ghana and Congo Brazzaville. Egypt top the group on six points, followed by Uganda, Ghana and Congo with four, one and zero points respectively from two games so far played.

The players who were part of the session are Ismael Watenga, Said Keni

Outfield players: Denis Iguma, Nico Wakiro Wadada, Deus Bukenya, John Adriko, Isaac Muleme, Martin Kizza, Bernard Muwanga, Timothy Awany, Paul Musamali, Muzamir Mutyaba, Shafic Kagimu, Paul Mucureezi, Milton Karisa, Simon Sserukuma, Moses Waiswa, Erisa Ssekisambu, Hassan Wasswa, Yasser Mugerwa and Nelson Senkatuka.
