One dead after Police officer opens fire on Man Utd fans

Some fans allegedly attempted to gain access to the function without paying and that’s when a fight ensued

A Police officer is being held over allegations that he shot and killed one Manchester United and injured two others over the weekend in Kole district.

"A Police officer No. 29493, Charles Ayepa, a shot and killed Emma Ayo" Police spokesperson Asan Kasingye said while addressing the media at the Police headquarters in Naguru today.

Kasingye said Ayepa and another Police officer only identified as Masekena, were arrested over the incident.

Explaining the shooting, Kasingye said there was a function organized by Manchester United fans at Awelo Primary School, Edwyeda Parish in Akalo Sub County to mark the start of the new Premier League season.

Some fans allegedly attempted to gain access to the function without paying and that's when a fight ensued leading to Ayepa opening fire on some of the fans.

Delimos Abang, who was shot in the right knee and Aron Enon was injured in the left shoulder,  were still admitted at Gift Life Clinic in Kole by press time.
