Kabugo limped out of their build up match against Azam FC

Uganda Cranes interim coach Moses Basena is optimistic defender Savio Kabugo will be fit for their Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against Rwanda's Amavubi Stars at St Mary's Stadium, Kitende this Saturday.

Kabugo limped out of their build up match against Azam FC of Tanzania at the same stadium after he sustained a knock during a battle for an aerial ball.

When contacted on Thursday, Basena who took charge of team in a friendly match for the first time, said that the player who is expected to step in for Timothy Awany (on trial), is responding positively to therapy.

On what they have learned from the match against Azam ahead of Saturday, Basena said that the team requires sustained concentration for 90 minutes of the game if they should win against Rwanda which is arguably one of Uganda's biggest rival in the region.

"I'm happy we conceded at the end of first half and the second goal also came towards the end of the game. That means we lost concentration at the end of the game. We need to concentrate throughout the game," Basena said.

Rwanda jetted in Wednesday. The Amavubi Stars are accommodated at Imperial Resort Hotel in Entebbe.

Uganda started residential training at the African Bible University in Lubowa along Entebbe Road.
