Serere leaders warned against opposing development

Teso has continued to lag behind in terms of development compared to other regions

The Member of Parliament for Serere County, Patrick Okabe, has warned local leaders against disunity if service delivery to the locals is to improve.

He explained that some leaders because of lack of knowledge have divided themselves along party lines forgetting to lobby for the people who voted for them.

Okabe advised leaders with such behaviour to consider the interests of the people who voted them first and not fronting division.

He added that opposition leaders can disagree with those in the ruling government but always continue to lobby for their people, a thing he says leaders should always embrace.

"As Members of Parliament the song we are singing daily is unity for development" Okabe added.

In his communication, Okabe said that Teso has continued to lag behind in terms of development compared to other regions because of division amongst leaders something that should come to an end.

Speaking to New Vision, Stephen Olebe the Soroti district speaker said there is need for leaders to come up with an association that brings political leaders together regardless of their party colours.
