Like the saying goes, he who laughs last laughs best. The Nkumba Lady Marines took a 49-45 victory against A1 Challenge to pick their 5th win of the round one campaign in a  rather loosely contested affair at the MTN Arena, Lugogo.

What promised to be an entertaining face-off as both teams were tied on 12 points prior to the game day, ended up into a one sided game after A1 Challenge failed to put up a formidable fight.

Nkumba's Brenda Ekone effortlessly led the way for her side with 29 points while Stella Nanfuka and Victoria Ntale scored 11 apiece for A1 Challenge.

The lady Marines who started on court with Nanjala Diana, Esther Apolot, Brenda Ekone, Beca Aanyu and Fina Busingye, led the contest to the end giving their opponents no chance to win a single quarter.

The Lady Marines held a 3 point lead after the first quarter before taking a 26-17 and 36-27 score line lead in the second and third quarters respectively.

In the final quarter, Ekone scored 8 of the 13 points that Nkumba to seal their round one campaign.
