The Ground-Breaking was launched by Vice president of Uganda, Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi who is also an Old-boy of the school.

St Mary's College Kisubi (SMACK) has commissioned construction of a Sh2.9b three-storied A-Level block.

The Ground-Breaking was launched by Vice president of Uganda, Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi who is also an Old-boy of the school.

Ssekandi donated sh5m to the construction of the block.

While addressing the gathering after the ground breaking, Ssekandi told students to focus on their studies.    

The event was attended by some of old students of the school, by their president, Eng. Joseph Eyatu, as well as by former and serving staff of the college.

According to the Head teacher, Brother Deodati Aganyira, the building is funded by Old-Students and is expected to be completed December this year.

St. Mary's College Kisubi, founded about 110 years ago by the white fathers as a boys school, is one of the oldest in the country.

 
Famed for among others, its strong stance on discipline, the school has nurtured and produced some of the country's most brilliant and successful men.

During the event, Eyetu revealed that they have plans of putting up a unique school monument near Kisubi Police Station along Entebbe road to symbolize their school.

Prof Edward Kirumira of Makerere University, one of old-students urged the government through Vice-president to provide scholarships to students who can't afford to pay school fees.
