Lake Victoria View cleared to host Ball Games

Officials commended the quality of fields, handball and basketball courts

Lake Victoria View Primary School in Entebbe Municipality in Wakiso district will host this year's edition of the National Primary Schools Ball Games next month.

The confirmation came after officials from the Ministry Of Education and Sports and Uganda Primary Schools Games and Sports Association led by Martine Okello Okwir, made the final inspection of the facilities at the Entebbe based institution on Monday.

The officials commended the quality of fields, handball and basketball courts whose construction has been completed.

"Victoria is very ready for the hosting because they have worked on all the requirements especially the football fields, handball, and netball and volleyball courts ahead of the events" said Okwir.

Sarah Nabirye the Entebbe Municipal sports officer also expressed readiness for the games that run from August 28th -September 4th, 2017

"This is a good opportunity for us in Entebbe and Lake Victoria as a school. We are very ready for the championship" Nabirye said.

Joseph Opio Ekodeu, an official from the Ministry, encouraged schools to start preparing their teams early.

The one- week long event will see successful school teams from different regions in the country compete in sports disciplines such as football, tag-rugby, handball and netball.

Wakiso district were the champions of the 2016 National Ball Games hosted by Teremunga Primary School in Koboko district.
