KAMPALA - The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party‘s deputy secretary general Richard Todwong (pictured) has been named the new head of the Inter-Party Organization for Dialogue (IPOD).

Todwong, who assumed responsibility on Friday, takes over from Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party's secretary general, Nandala Mafabi, who has been steering IPOD.

The IPOD platform operates under the theme  'Putting Uganda first'.

It is hosted by the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD).

Its membership includes NRM, FDC, Uganda People's Congress (UPC) and Democratic Party (DP), the only political parties with representatives in parliament.

In 2010, the parties, with NIMD's support, established an informal interparty dialogue process to engage with each other in a dialogue process aimed at addressing challenges facing Uganda.
