All motorists, know that an engine is the heart of the car that when it's not there, your car will turn into something else.
It's for this reason that motorists come to understand how and why they should take care of their car engines.
Experts note that not a lot is required in taking care of car engine but proper servicing is one way one can ensure that he ignites the life of the engine. Some of the things one can do include:
Do proper servicing
According Tom Ongom a mechanic, once a car is serviced, many things are done and one among others is having oil checked and changed.
He says that car engines usually have lots of parts that rotate while the car moves and these parts need to be lubricated properly by engine oil.
"However, when a car is moving, over time the oil loses its capacity to lubricate the engine parts which calls for an oil change to be done," he explains.
He adds that once this fact is ignored, the engine can be so damaged that it develops holes over time.
"Always check your oil levels so that you're sure that your engine parts have enough oil to enable lubrication take place as the car moves," he says.
Make sure your car cooling system works well
Yasin Mwanje, a mechanic says that the work of the coolant is to control the car engine temperatures.
This is because when a car is in motion, the engine burns fuel and in the process, a lot of heat is produced and to prevent the car from overheating, the car cooling system produces coolant to help in cooling the engine.
Mwanje explains that when there is a problem with the cooling system of the car, issues to do with overheating can arise and these can damage the engine.
To do away with them, it's important that motorists fix their car cooling systems and make sure that coolant does not leak to other engine parts.
He advises motorists to always check their coolant levels before they set off for any journey.
Don't under fuel your car
Mwanje notes that motorists are always in the habit of under fuelling their cars but this can also damage the car engine in the long run.
He says that little fuel makes the engine's nozzles over worked and in the end, they get spoilt.
He adds that motorists who run for fake fuel additives also risk having their engines damaged.
