The couples finished their introduction ceremonies and have gone through church tutorials

Namirembe Diocese Bishop Rt. Rev. Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira, is to conduct a free mass wedding ceremony for members of its congregation who want to marry but cannot raise fees.

When you want to be wedded at Namirembe in a special service, you pay sh508,000 and general service you pay sh408,000.

Special service is when you have one hour by yourself yet General is when you are four or five couples in a service. The money for church weddings goes into preparatory lectures and music.

"Namirembe Cathedral is offering to conduct free mass wedding this Saturday for all those who would like to solemnise their vows in the church but cannot afford the fees," said Rev. Samuel Muwonge, the Namirembe diocese secretary for mission.

The 50 couples who are to be wedded finished their introduction ceremonies and they have gone through church tutorials for four months to know what to expect once married.

"The foundation of a church is a stable and happy family. These days the devil is targeting marriages and families; it is also dangerous to have children without making your relationship holy. We need to be holy as the person we serve. The people who are getting married have gone through training and they are ready for marriage," said Muwonge.

Addressing the media, Jane Male, the head of Christian Women Fellowship at Namirembe called upon married people to always run to God when faced with challenges.

"So many times when people have problems, they run to fellow people who cannot even help, always tell your problems to God he is the one who unites," she said.

Male called upon wives to always pray and dedicate their husbands and children to God.

The couples will be dressed by the Namirembe mother's union and makeup will be done by Radiant.

"As Radiant, we have decided to give back to our people. We are going to style all the brides and their maids for free," said Robert Kitenda, the Radiant spokesperson.

The service will begin at 9:00am and thereafter a reception in the Namirembe Gardens.
