Uganda's youngsters, Vianney Kamoga and Simon Peter Lubega put up decent performances at the just concluded KCB Sports Club Junior Open Chess Championship in Nairobi, Kenya.
Kamoga and Lubega managed 3 points a piece. The Chess Life Academy youngsters ended the two day contest in 15 and 21 positions respectively.
Competing in the U12 category, Kamoga outsmarted Kenyan players Robert Oluka, Njenga Samuel and Violynne Omonding in the second, third and sixth rounds while his colleague defeated Jayden Fokuo in round two, Eric Mungai and Raghav Gupta in the last two rounds respectively.
Conducted in a Swiss system, the juniors' rapid contest attracted over 300 participants competing the in the U8, U10and U12 categories with Uganda having only two players in the event.
