MP Kahonda's supporters camp at State House

Following the flop of bail application for Ruhinda county Member of Parliament Dononzio Kahonda at Jinja High Court on Thursday, over 150 of his supporters have camped at State House Entebbe demanding for his release.

They were led by LCV chairperson Benon Karyaijja, other councilors and a famous Pastor Yoram Ssempa.

However, they were denied entry but they handed in their petition and vowed to stay until they meet the President.

“On 4^th September 2016 when Museveni came to Mitooma, he assured us that the issues of Kahonda were going to be handled outside court since the electorates had chosen him as their leader.  We wrote to the president on June 28^th this year calling for his intervention but up to now nothing has been done,” Karyaijja said.

Karyaija also noted that ever since the elections in 2016, their former MP Kahinda Otafire who was trounced by Kahonda has never accepted defeat and has resorted to using his influence in government to have Kahonda incarcerated.

Robina Kankwasa, one of the supporters said that they request president Museveni to come down to Mitooma and solve their problems.
