Vendors alarmed by Oderai Market's hygiene

It might lead to the outbreak of diseases such as cholera, diarrhoea, and typhoid among others

Venders in Oderai Daily Market in Soroti Sub County have challenged the chairperson of the market to block some of the venders operating without cleaning.

Daniel Elamu one of the vendors told New Vision that there are some venders that do not frequently clean where they operate from, a thing he says has turned away customers who come to buy merchandise.

He is worried that if the committee of the market delays to respond it might lead to the outbreak of diseases such as cholera, diarrhoea, and typhoid among others.

"We are not happy with the condition under which the market is operating without being cleaned" Elamu said.

Hendry Ebetu the chairperson of the market said that the committee is working hard to see to it that venders who do not follow the market rules are brought to book.

"Venders should know that operating without cleaning, putting on dirty clothes, selling with dirty hands among others is disrespecting market rules and it is punishable" Ebetu said.
